Historical Background
Wijaya Resort is located in the Kiriella, in Rathnapura District of Sabaragamuwa province. Sabaragamuwa is one out of the nine provinces in Sri Lanka, which is a highly bio diversified area, with a historical background. It is believed that the name Sabaragamuwa was named after the Inhabitant tribe sabras. The province is administratively divided into two districts as Rathnapura and Kegalle. Rathnapura is the Gem City known for best Blue Sapphires around the world.

    Pahiyangala Cave is a cave in the district of Kalutara, Western Province, Sri Lanka, according to a village legend named after the Buddhist monk Faxian (Wade-Giles: Fa Hsien). However, there is no archeological or historical evidence to support this legend. The cave is important for the Late Pleistocene human skeletal remains discovered there in the 1960s and 1980s. Radiocarbon dating indicated that the cave had been occupied from about 33,000 to 4,750 years ago
